Club Life

The Founders Clubhouse at Greystone serves as the home to all of our club activities. From Sunday Brunch to Member Parties to the 4th of July Picnic, the Clubhouse is the heart of the club. With three dining areas, the clubhouse offers many different settings for our members to enjoy their meals at the club. The 19th Hole offers quick, casual meals for anyone who wants to enjoy a fine meal on a tight schedule. The Trophy Room serves as home for our members who want to come in after a round of golf to sit and enjoy rehashing some of their shots. The Main Dining Room overlooks the 18th hole at the Founders Course and gives our member the intimate setting that they are looking for when coming to the club for lunch or dinner.

Our Founders Golf Course, designed by renowned architect Bob Cupp, opened for our members in 1991. In the years since it’s opening, the Founders Course has been tapped with several awards of distinction. Among our proudest accomplishments is the hosting of The Bruno’s Memorial Classic. Past Champion, Larry Nelson, describes our tournament as, “…the Masters of the Senior PGA Tour.” Jay Sigel added, “When someone is considering hosting a Senior Tour Event, they must first come to Greystone to see how it is done.”

The Founders Course, with its undulating greens and expansive fairways, is a course that demands solid ball striking and a deft touch on the greens. The back nine offers a unique layout of three par-3, three par-4 and three par-5 holes that give players an opportunity to make some great scores. The 18th is a classic example of a risk-reward hole. Three well-played shots will give a player a good chance at par, but if a better score is needed, a more risky shot will be needed and danger looms for any miss.

The Legacy Clubhouse is the center of activity at the Legacy Course. Reminiscent of a country manor, the Golfhouse provides the perfect setting for the members of Greystone and their guests to enjoy one another’s company after a round of golf. The Legacy Clubhouse houses the Legacy Conference Room, a perfect locale for a business meeting in a retreat-like setting. In the Mixed Grill enjoy breakfast and lunch Friday through Tuesday and dinner on Friday and Saturday Nights. And don't forget to drop by for our famous Sunday Lunch!

 

Designed by world-famous Architect, Rees Jones, The Legacy Course is a sight to behold. Situated in the hardwood valley at the base of Double Oak Mountain, The Legacy Course offers a wonderful assortment of grasses that provide a golfer with surfaces that are both rewarding and challenging. The tees and rough are 419 Bermuda while the fairways are Meyers Zoysia. The Greens are Imperial Bent Grass.

There is a meandering creek that comes into play on 6 holes on the front side. The second hole will give you a fun start as you hit to a green that is fronted by a small lake. The challenging ninth hole, a 435-yard par four, requires both accuracy and length from your drive.

The “Amen Corner” of the Legacy, holes 12, 13 & 14, can be distracting because of the sheer beauty of the holes. Caution is advised though, because each of these holes is demanding and will punish any misguided shots. As you play the 18th hole, you will see that it is guarded by the first in a series of three ponds. Two rock waterfalls that give the back of the Golfhouse a wonderful tranquil setting connect the ponds.

Our Swim, Tennis and Fitness Programs

Greystone's Aquatics Complex is home to a successful and growing aquatics program. It provides a welcome break from the long summer days for everyone in the family. For the children of many of our members, the swimming pools are the center of summertime life - a place to hang out with friends in an environment that is both safe and fun. Greystone also features an intensely competitive and successful swim team - The Greystone Gators. The Gators host several swim meets each year at our Junior Olympic-Sized Competition Pool. Having two pools at our Aquatics Center enable us to keep a pool open for the membership as the swim team practices during the summer. And last but not least, visit our Toddler Pool, complete with a mushroom fountain and interactive water jets - a haven for children under five. As you enjoy all the amenities of the Greystone Aquatics Complex, certified water safety instructors serve as lifeguards and offer personal instruction and group lessons.

Greystone Golf & Country Club offers a tennis facility featuring 12 rubico courts and a tennis pro shop that carries top designer fashion lines as well as champion quality raquets and equipment. Our professional staff offers in-house raquet stringing and advice to help find the equipment right for you. The tennis pro staff, undert the leadership of Dane Clegg, Director of Tennis, can provide personal training to people of all ages, in every skill category from beginner to state champion. Family participation and ambiance are trends at the Greystone tennis facility, however, adult and men's play are also successful venues. Membership in the Greystone Ladies Tennis Association has increased annually, and regularly sends teams to compete on local, state and regional levels.

If you are looking to tone up for the season, visit the Greystone Fitness Center. Featuring a variety of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, all overlooking the 18th hole of the Founders Course. Throughout the year, enjoy classes in Yoga and water aerobics. For those with serious fitness goals, your workouts may be enhanced with the close supervision of a personal trainer. Once a year, join in with the Annual Greystone 5k Race and 1 mile fun run.

The Private Club Experience at at Greystone

There are many membership categories here at Greystone that will enable someone to find the type of club experience that fits their needs.

The Regular Membership at Greystone is a membership that allows an individual and their family to enjoy all of the facilities here at Greystone. The Regular Membership is an 80% equity membership, which allows the members to enjoy the increasing value of membership at Greystone.

The Associate Membership is a non-equity membership - perfect for those individuals who do not wish to make the financial commitment of Equity Membership, or who desire the benefit of a fine private country club membership while temporarily in the Birmingham area. Greystone offers you two world-class golf courses, an environment of distinction in facilities and service - perfect for your personal and family leisure or entertaining.

The Social Membership at Greystone allows access to all of the facilities at the club, except the golf facilities. With the expansion of our tennis, swim and Fitness programs, the Social Members of Greystone are enjoying some of the finest facilities in the Southeast.

The Non-Resident Membership is designed to allow someone who lives outside of 75-miles from the Club, to enjoy the membership when they come to town. Full access is allowed for our Non-Resident Members with no limitation on amount of play.

Our Junior Membership Program is intended to give the young executives in Birmingham a place to enjoy club life with their family and friends. A Junior Member has full access to all facilities at the club.

The Corporate Membership at Greystone is designed to give a company flexibility when it comes to their club membership. A company that joins under our corporate membership is allowed to designate an individual to serve as the member of the club. If the company wishes to change the individual that is designated for that membership, there are no fees or time restrictions involved with that change. Like the Regular Membership, the Corporate Membership is an 80% equity membership.

The Corporate Associate Memberships are available to any company that purchases a Corporate Equity Membership. With the ability to redesignate individuals for each of the Corporate Associate Memberships, this plan gives great flexibility to any company.

The Life Membership at Greystone Golf & Country Club is an equity membership which has all of the privileges of a Regular Membership but pays no dues, food minimums or assessments. A life Membership is contingently redeemable at 100% of the Fair Market Value of Life Memberships or, if life memberships are not available on the date of redemption, then 100% of the Fair Market Value of Regular Memberships.Life Members, like all equity members, have the right to pass the equity value of their membership through the club’s Legacy Transfer Option, as provided in the club’s bylaws.
